Melanesian Youth

The committee Melanesian Youth -an initiative of both westmelanesia.com and Foundation for Keeping Moluccan Civil and Political Rights (FKMCPR)- was formed in the fall of 2006. The group consists of Melanesian youth from West Papua and Maluku. One of their main focuses is sharing their Melanesian Culture with the Multi-cultural society of Amsterdam and the rest of Europe.

On the 29th of April 2007 Melanesian Youth organized the first Melanesian Culture Day (MCD) in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The day was a great success with people from Fiji, Vanuatu, Australia, Maluku and West Papua who participated in the program. A week before the event the tickets were already sold out.

On the 26th of April 2008 Melanesian Youth organized the second MCD. The day was again a great success with people from Fiji, Australia, Solomon Islands, Kanaky, Maluku and West Papua who participated in the program.
